The Tzohar organization may back one of its rabbis as a candidate for Chief Rabbi of Israel, the group’s head Rabbi David Stav has revealed in an interview with the Arutz Sheva magazine B’Sheva. The group is known for its efforts to make Jewish tradition accessible for the secular and traditional communities.
The main question is the candidate’s chance of being chosen, Rabbi Stav said. “Tzohar will run a candidate of its own only if there is a good chance of success,” he explained. “We do not want to make a joke of ourselves.”
