Rivlin Congratulates Talmud Students

Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin addressed on Monday, during his remarks at the Knesset plenum, the Siyum Hashas events which took place throughout the country and the world last week.

“Last week, many in the Jewish world marked the end of the study cycle of the Babylonian Talmud, which is studied one page per day for seven and a half years,” Rivlin said, adding, “In my youth we studied Talmud even in state schools. Today unfortunately, the non-religious youth rarely see Talmudic issues and experience studying the Talmud. I hope that the impressive event of Siyum Hashas will cause the public school system not to give up the spiritual treasures that lie in the Talmud and to introduce them to the next generation.”

Rivlin concluded by wishing "Mazal Tov" to those who finished studying the Talmud.
