Iran to Turkey: We'll React Strongly to Attack in Syria

Iran has sent a threatening message to Turkey that Iran and Syria "will respond with great strength" if the authorities in Ankara undertake military action in Syrian territory, according to the Syrian newspaper Al-Watan, which is affiliated with the Damascus regime. The warning followed Turkish troop movements toward the Syrian border out of concern that violence between the Syrian government and opposition forces might spill over the border.

The message reportedly continued, "Every attack in Syrian territory will be met by a strong reaction and the Syrian-Iranian defense agreement will be enforced." Turkey also received a stern warning that "not to change the rules of the game."
