A teenage girl from Beit Shemesh has been awarded 13,000 shekels in a suit against behavior on a “mehadrin” bus. She and two friends had been coerced into moving to the back of the bus despite a Supreme Court ruling stating that gender segregation may not be enforced on public transportation.
“I moved because I was afraid the driver would throw me off the bus,” she told IDF Radio (Galei Tzahal). “It upset me because I felt like the driver was taking advantage of my young age, and because I was asked to move just because I was a woman.”
