MK Danny Danon, head of the Knesset Child Welfare lobby, on Monday submitted for a vote a law that would prevent all advertising of alcohol. The law, Danon said, “will save many lives and halt the plague of drunkenness among the youth.” The law will come into effect thirty days after it is passed by the Knesset, Danon said.
The law will prohibit any advertising of alcoholic products on billboards, bus signs, and other public venues. Advertising in other venues, such as in markets, will be curtailed, with limits placed on the size of signs, and placement of signs. In addition, advertisements with cartoon characters will be prohibited altogether.
