Rabbi Ronsky: Add ‘Rabbinate Protest’ to Social Protest

Rabbi Avichai Ronsky, former IDF Chief Rabbi, called Wednesday for a grassroots movement to change the face of the Rabbinate. “I think that alongside the social protest there should be a voice calling to refresh the Rabbinate and the religious courts,” he told Arutz Sheva.

Both systems are falling into near-exclusive hareidi-religious control, he said. “Subjects like conversion, marriage, kosher food, and more, are important enough that they should not be the exclusive domain of those who do not serve in the army and are far from the culture and language of the public,” he argued.
