Residents of several neighborhoods in southern Tel Aviv protested Tuesday against the flood of illegal entrants in the area. Protesters called on other neighborhoods – the wealthy neighborhoods of northern Tel Aviv in particular – to share the burden by welcoming illegals to their area as well.
Israeli residents of the area told reporters that they lack the resources to absorb the illegal entrants, who are making their lives a nightmare. Public parks in the area have become hangouts for drug users, they said, leaving children with nowhere to play. Many of the illegal entrants are involved in crime, and residents of southern neighborhoods live in constant fear of theft and sexual harassment and assault, they added.
