Knesset members Aryeh Eldad and Michael Ben-Ari (National Union) affixed mezuzahs, Sunday, to a Jewish home in the predominantly Arab neighborhood of Beit Hanina in northern Jerusalem. The house was built on 11 dunams (2.75 acres) of land purchased by Jews in 1974. Arab squatters intruded and a legal battle over the property concluded only recently.
MK Eldad said, ""We are at the start ofthe establishment of anew Jewishneighborhoodin the area, which will createa continuous sequenceofJewish neighborhoodsin northern Jerusalem.Only thestubbornness ofthe JewishlandownersandAryeh King of theNationalLandRedemption Fundultimatelyled to the achievementof the day andwe are confidentlaw enforcement agencieswill be requiredfrom now on to remove Arabsquattersfrom all the propertiesof the Jewsin the area".
