A Palestinian Authority terrorist who carried out a bomb attack in Jerusalem was sentenced to 7.5 years in prison on Tuesday. The terrorist, a Hamas member from the Jerusalem-area town of Sur Baher, was convicted of membership in a terrorist organization, illegal weapons possession, weapons manufacture, and causing injury with aggravating circumstances.
The defendant planned to place a pipe bomb near the tunnel roads south of Jerusalem, but changed his mind and planted the bomb in the Gilo neighborhood. A passing municipal worker was badly wounded when the bomb exploded, and lost his arm.
In addition to his prison sentence, the bomber was sentenced to pay 200,000 shekels to his victim.
