Report: Israel to Request Apology from Ashton

Israel will request an official apology from EU Foreign Affairs chief Catherine Ashton, Maariv reports. Ashton caused anger in Israel with a speech in which she compared deaths in Gaza to the murder of Jewish children in France earlier this week.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu criticized the comparison between “an act of slaughter targeting children, and including the point-blank shooting of an eight-year-old girl, and the surgical IDF strikes aimed at terrorists who use children as a human shield.”

Ashton claims that her words were taken out of context.
