The Israel Antiquities Authority announced, Tuesday, that a ceramic seal with an image of the menorah (candelabra) from the Temple in Jerusalem has been found in excavations being carried out in the ruins of Utza, east of the northern city of Akko, ahead of the laying of the railroad line from Akko to Carmiel.
The Authorityestimated that thesealisfrom the Byzantine period(6th century CE)andbelongs toa group ofsealscalled "breadstamps",sincetheywere usually used forsigningbaked goods.
