Byzantine Seal with Temple Menorah Found in Akko Dig

The Israel Antiquities Authority announced, Tuesday, that a ceramic seal with an image of the menorah (candelabra) from the Temple in Jerusalem has been found in excavations being carried out in the ruins of Utza, east of the northern city of Akko, ahead of the laying of the railroad line from Akko to Carmiel.

The Authority estimated that the seal is from the Byzantine period (6th century CE) and belongs to a group of seals called "bread stamps", since they were usually used for signing baked goods.
