The Knesset Education Committee voted unanimously, Monday, to send a bill banning the declawing of cats - except when needed for a cat's health - to the full Knesset for votes on its second and third reading.

People often have a cat's claws removed to protect their furniture and equipment from scratching. The bill says the practice harms a cat's ability to run, jump and climb trees.
