Metzger: World Quiet Now as it Was on Kristallnacht

Ashkenazic Chief Rabbi Yonah Metzger told Pope Benedict XVI, Thursday afternoon, that the world is as quiet about the threats of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to destroy Israel as it was 73 years ago to the Kristallnacht (Night of the Broken Glass) pogroms in Germany that set the stage for the death of six million Jews in the Holocaust.

The rabbi was part of a group of Israeli religious leaders who met with the pope in the Vatican. Benedict, who quit the Hitler youth, responded that he was praying for peace in Jerusalem and in the Holy Land.
