Lack of Budget Blocks Hareidi Inductions

A representative of the Defense Ministry said, Sunday, that a delay in the transfer of a 140-million-shekel supplement in budgets ending this year will put a stop to the Israel Defense Forces efforts to induct members of the hareidi religious community. Addressing a meeting on implementing the Tal Law on hareidi service, Brigader General Amir Rogovski said the budget shortfall will affect about 200 hareidis who stood to be inducted by the end of the year.

Rogovski added that 45 percent of the hareidi educational institutions where draft-age students learn are expected to lose their ministry exemption from service in 2012 if they don't have enough students to meet the ministry's regulations.
