Gilad Shalit’s return home after more than five years of captivity gives Israel a glimpse at the future joy of the revival of the dead, Rabbi Ovadia Yosef said Wednesday in a Torah class in honor of Hoshana Raba.

“What joy there was in all of Israel at Gilad Shalit’s release… When the dead are revived people will rejoice like this, when relatives we did not see for 20 or 50 years come back to life,” he said.
