Security officials in the United States revealed in a conversation with Reuters on Thursday that there is a credible but unconfirmed warning about possible terror attacks in New York City and Washington DC around the tenth anniversary of the September 11 attacks.

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg later stressed that the threat had not been corroborated, but said that heightened security measures would be taken around his city.

“There is no reason for any of the rest of us to change anything in our daily routines,” Bloomberg told a news conference.
