Azzam Al-Ahmad, the head of the Fatah delegation in reconciliation talks with Hamas, said, Thursday, that a solution will be reached by the holiday of Eid Al-Fitr, which closes the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, on the issue of members held in custody by the rival terror groups. He said that most of the prisoners will be released, except as agreed.
Al-Ahmad spoke after two days of talks in Cairo with a delegation headed by Hamas deputy politburo leader Ahmed Abu-Marzouk. An Egyptian source close to the talks said the negotiations also dealt with a transition government including independents and the establishment of an elections committee. He added that unresolved issues include the next Palestinian Authority prime minister and passports for residents of Gaza.
