Lieberman: Cannot Trust US Promises

In an interview with Israel Radio Sunday, Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman said that Palestinian Authority chief Mahmoud Abbas has significantly hardened the demands of the PA from Israel, to the extent that Abbas' current demands were the strongest presented to Israel since the implementation of the Oslo Accords. Lieberman also said that Israel must not rely on American security guarantees, as impressive as they may sound, since these promises have proven ineffective in  past situations, such as after Israel's withdrawal from Gaza and the Philadelphia Route.

Lieberman added that despite appearances, Turkish leader Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan was not interested in improving relations with Israel, but to embarrass Israel and to interfere with its international standing.
