An arrest warrant has been issued for Rabbi Ya'akov Yosef and police plan to detain him for questioning in connection with his support for the book Torat Hamelech, which deals, among other things, in the treatment of non-Jews in time of war. Rabbi Yosef, along with Rabbi Dov Lior, refused to answer a summons for questioning a few months ago, after they lent their rabbinical endorsement to the book.
Rabbi Lior was detained for questioning on Monday. A police source said further legal action will be taken against rabbis who support the book, including its author, Rabbi Yitzchak Shapiro. The source said that a decision will be made in the next few days if that action includes the filing of charges.
