General Eitan Dangot, the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (CoGAT), approved, on Thursday, the entry of medical equipment, donated by the Turkish Red Crescent, into Gaza for use in area hospitals. Delivery of the equipment was made via the Allenby Bridge from Jordan and the Erez crossing into the Hamas-controlled area.
A Defense Ministry announcement stressed that such donations are made on a daily basis in the matters of health, education, agriculture and infrastructure, and in conjunction with leading international authorities and organizations, whose goal is to send aid to the Gaza population, and official Turkish authorities, which operate in full coordination and in adherence to the appropriate procedures. The statement added, "The delivery of Turkish aid is coordinated on a daily basis and is not a result of the medicine crisis in Gaza which is the outcome of an internal Palestinian health system dispute in Gaza and in which Israel is not involved."
