Egypt discovered and blocked a tunnel for smuggling buses into Gaza, according to a Thursday report by the London-based Arabic newspaper Al-Hayat. The tunnel was located north of the Rafah crossing between Gaza and the northern Sinai peninsula.

The Egyptian action came a day after Egypt and Hamas came to an agreement on renewing operations at Rafah, which had been closed on the Gaza side for four days. Under the new agreement, hours at the crossing will be extended, the limit on people crossing has been raised to 550, and renovations for bus traffic have been accelerated.
