Russia Bans EU Vegetables

Russia on Thursday banned the import of fresh vegetables from European Union countries, the result of a rash of infections caused by E.coli strands traced to vegetables from European countries, especially Spanish cucumbers. So far, 17 deaths have been linked to the bacteria.

German experts have identified Spanish cucumbers as the source of the infections, but Spanish Health Minister Leire Pajin said there was “no proof or evidence” that Spanish produce caused the outbreak.
