Suzanne Mubarak, the wife of former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, has returned some of her assets to the state, the Al-Jazeera network reported on Monday.
According to the report, Mrs. Mubarak returned a villa in Cairo and transferred the power of attorney for authorities to withdraw up to $3.4 million held in two of her bank accounts.
It was also reported that the hand-over came after Egypt’s anti-corruption agency ordered that Mubarak be detained for 15 days for further investigation into charges that she abused her husband’s power for unlawful personal gain.
