The political programs of Hamas and Fatah are identical and the two parties should work toward consolidating their new partnership, Abdullah Abu Samhadana, a senior Fatah official in the Gaza region, said over the weekend.
His remarks were made during a rally to celebrate the recent Hamas-Fatah reconciliation accord.
Abu Samhadana, one of Fatah’s top leaders, said that there was “full “conformity” between the political programs of Fatah and Hamas, particularly with regards to the establishment of a Palestinian Authority state on the 1949 armistice lines, solving the issue of the refugees on the basis of United Nations resolution 194 and the release of all prisoners held in Israeli jails.
The Fatah leader warned that Israel was doing its utmost to sabotage the Egyptian-sponsored reconciliation pact and urged the Arab and Islamic countries to provide the PA with financial aid in light of Israel’s decision to withhold tax revenues.
