Professor Moshe Sharon of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem said on Thursday that he was not surprised by the reconciliation agreement between Hamas and Fatah, and said that he believed the agreement would bring about the end of the Fatah rule in Judea and Samaria.
Sharon, who spoke to Arutz Sheva’s Hebrew website, said that he believes that even before Hamas comes into power in Judea and Samaria, there will be a significant increase in the near future of terrorist attacks in the region.
“We will see, already in the near future, Hamas’ big influence on youth in Judea and Samaria and we should prepare for the possibility of terrorist activity in the region,” said Sharon. “This requires new thinking by the Israeli government. The prime minister’s statement that they have to choose between peace with Hamas or peace with Israel is not enough. We cannot prevent the increase in armament and what happened in Gaza could happen in Judea and Samaria as well.”
