The IDF announced Sunday that it, along with the Shin Bet and Israel Police, had captured the murderers of the Fogel family in Itamar last month. The murderers are two 18 year old Arabs, residents of the village of Awarta who were assisted by six other Awarta residents. The two recreated the crime and confessed to the murders. They told investigators they had jumped the fence and entered Itamar on the night of the murder, and broke into an empty house to look for a weapon. They found one, and then broke into the Fogel's home, where they killed the parents and two of the children.
They then left the house, but decided to return to search for another weapon, and came upon the Fogel's three month old baby, whom they murdered as well. They told investigators that they were unaware that there had been two other children in the house – and if they had known of their presence, they would have murdered those children as well.
