About a thousand soldiers in the Hesder program, which combines military service with religious studies, have begun an annual campaign to make military kitchens on land and sea kosher for the upcoming Pesach holiday. Interviewed by Arutz Sheva's Hebrew service, Director-General Eitan Ozeri of the Hesder Yeshiva Association said Friday that the student will also be leading the traditional Seder meal on the first night of the holiday.

Ozeri said a decision was made about four years ago to get more Hesder students involved in the preparations. Until then, they had a relatively minor role, assisting reserves soldiers from the military rabbinate. He added that while participation is one of the commitments made by participants in the Hesder program, they are motivated to take part because of their understanding of the importance of the holiday.
