Drivers in Israel may soon be pulling into the gas station to charge up their battery rather then fill up their tank. The Sonol gas station company has signed a deal with Better Place, the Israeli electric car company. Better Place will pay to install recharging outlets at Sonol stations throughout the country. The company says recharging or replacing a used car battery will take minutes.
Globes Israeli business news quoted the CEO of Sonol Nir Galili as stating, "Our ability to adapt to the changing reality is a critical part of Sonol's current and future operating strategy."
Moshe Kaplinski, the CEO of Better Place commented, "The transportation industry is about to undergo fundamental change." Better Place has already installed recharging posts at certain shopping malls and parking lots throughout Israel.
Proponents of electric cars stay they will be more energy efficient and reduce pollution.
