Demonstrations in the Arab world have spread to Oman. Six people were killed Sunday night at a demonstration calling for government reform. According reports, police opened fire on demonstrators.
Oman is located next to Yemen in the Saudi Arabian peninsula. It is ruled by what is termed an "Islamic absolute monarchy" by Sultan Qaboos bin Said al Said who has been in power since 1970 when he overthrew his father.
