An Al Qaeda-affiliated group active in northern African countries said Thursday that it backed the uprising in Libya, and said it would do whatever we can to help" the rebels. The statement appeared on several web sites associated with radical Islamists, and was signed by the Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb group.
