Chief of Staff Benny Gantz of the Israel Defense Forces, approved, on the Thursday, the start of the process to make Haifa a new district in the Homefront Command. Until now, the northern port has been part of the Northern Region.
The other four districts in the command are Jerusalem, Center, Dan and the South.
