A French newspaper Thursday reported that former Tunisian President Zine el Abidine ben Ali, who fled the country several weeks ago in the wake of mass protests against his government, was in a coma. Ben Ali suffered a severe stroke and was taken to a hospital in Paris, where he and his family are now living.
His identity was kept secret by hospital and ambulance officials to prevent possible attacks against him, the report said.
