Responding to the arrest of a top Kadima official in connection with a bribery scandal, the Likud said Tuesday that Kadima had “turned into an incubator for the development of criminals. Nearly every activist in the party has a police record. Director general Moshe Shachori joins a long line of members to be investigated, including Olmert, Hirschson, Ramon, Hanegbi, Lachiani, and Omri and Gilad Sharon. It's surprising that Tsipi Livni herself, who seems to have something to say about every event and claims to be an advocate of clean politics, has had nothing to say about this incident.”
Shachori was questioned Tuesday by police over allegations that he gave and brokered deals in which tax officials received bribes. A senior tax official was arrested earlier Tuesday on charges of accepting bribes for reducing the tax bills of business people. Seven other suspects were arrested in the case as well.
