Jewish musician C Lanzbom was an engineer for a Grammy Award winning album by Pete Seeger. The guitar virtuoso from the band Soulfarm mixed the CD Tomorrow's Children. The 91 year old American music legend's new CD won for best children's album on Sunday evening. Lanzbom is a former resident of Moshav Mevo Modiin and has released numerous tribute albums covering the music of Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach.
In other Grammy news, Avner Dorman and Avi Avital were the first ever Israelis to be nominated for a Grammy Award in classical music. Avital is the first mandolin player ever to be nominated for the award. They lost to a Mozart performance.
Another Jewish musician, Drake was nominated for an award in the hip-hop category. The musician and actor was born and raised by a Jewish mother and African-American father.
