Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman convened a special Saturday night meeting with ministry officials to assess the situation in Egypt.

He said that "Israel will not interfere in the internal affairs of Egypt. The only concern about what is happening there is continued stability and that the peace treaty will be respected."

Israel and Egypt signed the Camp David Accords in 1979. Israel relinquished the Sinai Peninsula to Egypt and Egypt pledged to end all belligerency toward Israel.
