Esther Pollard, the wife of Jonathan Pollard, gave a personal letter from her husband to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu in his office Monday, after Netanyahu cancelled an appearance before the Pollard-release lobby in the Knesset. In the letter, Jonathan wrote, "I ask your honor to submit an official request to release me to the president of the United States without any additional delay, to announce the request publicly, and to continue all activity needed to carry out the request." He added, "I am ready to take the risk of the consequences which could result from this step on my behalf."

When Esther Pollard returned to the lobby meeting, she broke out in tears and said, "Only Netanyahu can save him before it's too late." Jonathan Pollard has been in prison for 25 years on a life sentence for passing classified information from the United States to Israel.
