Chairman Chaim Yellin of the Eshkol Regional Council submitted a complaint to Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon of the United Nations on Thursday over Hamas's use of phosphorus in the mortars aimed at the 12,000 civilians of the Gaza-border region on Wednesday. At least three of the six mortars that hit the region between 10:30 a.m. and 1:10 p.m. contained phosphorus, which is banned for use against civilians.
In his letter, Yellin called on the U.N. to stop the hypocrisy that criticizes the Israel Defense Forces and puts them on trial on allegations of using the material and does not say a thing about Hamas's use of it.
