Napoleon's Parochet Found in Haifa Museum

Napoleon's Parochet (Jewish ritual ornamental curtain covering the front of the holy ark in the synagogue) documented by many worshippers of the Hurva synagogue until the War of Independence, was considered lost for many years. It was assumed that the parochet was stolen or burned with the destruction of Hurva synagogue by the Jordanians in 1948.

The Jerusalem Jewish Quarter Reconstruction and Development company managed to link the legend to reality - and uncover the parochet at the Haifa Museum.
