Iran to Seek Seat on UN Human Rights Council

The Iranian Islamic regime is expected to seek a seat on the United Nations' Human Rights Council. The 47-nation body is scheduled to hold elections in May.

On Wednesday, Germany's Foreign Minister urged countries to vote against Iran saying having the human rights violator on the body would be an affront to human rights.

Iranian ruler Mahmud Achmadinejad has been sharply criticized for his harsh crackdown on reformists who have protested the irregularities in last year's presidential election. He has also repeatedly called for the destruction of the State of Israel.
