In a symposium entitled "Jewish Law in Israeli Law" at the IDC in Herzliya, Justic Minister Yaakov Neeman told the audience "consulting with the sources of Jewish law will enable us to ask ourselves to what extent we are disrupting our own society by basing ourselves on foreign law, particularly American law." "Consulting with Jewish law," he said "will enable us to look at our ethical and cultural roots."
He told the crowd that Jewish law is the most capable of being adapted to the needs of a modern Jewish state.
