Infected Mushroom, the superstar Israeli DJs, will play a much anticipated special Chanukah concert in Jerusalem this Thursday. Erez Eisen and Amit Duvdevani started the electronic music group in northern Israel and have since added musicians as the group's fame grew.
Their latest CD, titled The Legend of the Black Shawarma (honoring the group's favorite restaurant - Shawarma Hazan in Haifa), features Jewish-American rock singer Perry Farrell as well as a remixed track from The Doors. The group has received positive reviews from both American and European music critics.
Infected Mushroom became an international success in the late 1990s and helped make Israeli trance its own unique genre. They and similar artists have made Israel a must-stop destination for touring DJs in the middle east.
Thursday's concert is expected to draw a massive crowd and posters can be seen plastered throughout Israel's capital. Also performing is Astrix, an Israeli DJ originally born in Russia and a group called the Matbucha Project which combines Middle Eastern music with electronica.
