Nachshon Soldiers Jailed, Disciplined for Banner

Two soldiers of the Nachshon battalion who raised an anti-expulsion banner on the roof of their base Monday morning, shortly after security forces destroyed two nearby Jewish homes and expelled the families living there, were sentenced Monday afternoon to 30 days in the brig on charges of disobeying orders and unbecoming conduct. Kefir Brigade Commander Oren Abamo also dismissed them from command and combat duties and demoted them.

In announcing the ruling, the Spokesperson's Office of the Israel Defense Forces said, "The IDF views political demonstrations in the military framework seriously, saying that it harms discipline and is unbecoming behavior. It also harms the strength and unity of a fighting unit.
