A three-judge panel of the Supreme Court ruled on Monday against a petition by Arabs living near archaeological excavations in Ir David (The City of David), just south of the Old City of Jerusalem, who wanted the excavations stopped. The justices said the excavations improved the welfare of the residents.

The dig has been frozen for a year and a half.
