The IDF will award a citation on Wednesday to the off duty soldier who shot and killed an Arab terrorist who ran down civilians in a tractor in central Jerusalem last year.

When Moshe Plesser, who serves in the Golani Brigade’s special Egoz Unit, saw a tractor running over vehicles on Jerusalem’s Jaffa street, he took a gun from civilian Oron Ben Shimon, jumped on the moving vehicle and fired three shots at the terrorist killing him.

Plesser later described the incident: "I heard the terrorist shout out the Muslim cry "Allahu Akbar. I drew Oron's weapon and shot three bullets at the terrorist. After I made sure he was dead I raised the gun so that passersby’s would not be hurt. I want to thank the Holy One, Blessed Be He who assisted me and the education I received from the Talmud Torah in Jerusalem through the Dimona and Kiryat Arba yeshivas, to my army service in the Golani Brigade and Egoz."

Plesser’s father is Principal of the Morasha Talmud Torah in Jerusalem’s Kiryat Moshe Neighborhood.
