(IsraelNN.com) A bungalow owner who discovered in his courtyard the grave of Rabbi Yehoshua Ben Levi is expected to receive a court decision Monday whether an archaeological excavation will take place.

Rabbi Yehoshua Ben Levi was a third century scholar who is mentioned in the Talmud. He headed a Talmudic academy in Lod and later in Tiveria.

This year, Mitch Pilcer, a resident of the Galilee town of Tzipori, discovered the grave of Rabbi Yehoshua when preparing groundwork for building. Both the burial society and archaeologists claim that the sage buried is a different Rabbi Yehoshua.
