A new and illustrious addition to the State of Israel. Rabbi Mordechai Maaravi, the head of the Jewish community in Uruguay and a popular figure in Jewish life throughout South America, moved to Israel last week and into his new home in Ra’anana. His aliyah has reportedly made an impact on Jews in South America and will likely help encourage other Uruguayan Jews to make aliyah.

Rabbi Maaravi recently received an award for his work in strengthening Jewish life in South America.
