Nigerian Police Arrest 3,950 Muslims Fearing Violence

Police in northern Nigeria on Saturday arrested 3,950 members of the strictly Islamic community Darul Islam, claiming the group were feared to become violent.

The group is being held in a local school building.

The arrests come in the wake of the violent uprising of the Boko Haram Islamist group, which has resulted in the deaths of 700 people, including Islamic terrorists and local authorities.

Boko Haram wants the government to institute Sharia Muslim law in northern Nigeria, which is largely Muslim.
