Haredi City Approved for Negev

The Interior Ministry approved plans to establish a hareidi-religious city in the Negev. The city, whose first stage includes housing units for 50,000 people, will be named Kasif.

The Israel Nature and National Parks Service has opposed the decision, claiming Kasif is a danger to Israel’s environment. It recommends that hareidi-religious neighborhoods be developed in existing cities.
