According to Israel Trade Commission figures for 2008, Australian export sales to Israel jumped by 50 percent. Industry analysts quoted by SeekingMedia anticipate continued growth and an increase in the number of Australian companies doing business with Israel.
In particular, Australian food exports such as kosher slaughtered lamb are doing well. "We are making huge inroads into the Israeli market," says Jack Hines, executive chairman of the Hines Group, based in Melbourne. "Australian lamb has now taken over the Israeli market.” He said that more than 1,000 tons have been exported in the last 12 months and sales are expected to double annually.
