Pollard Supporters Still Hope for Bush's Compassion

The White House Press Office said Monday that outgoing US President Bush is not expected to issue any additional pardons or clemency.

On Monday, Bush commuted the sentences of two border patrol agents who were convicted of killing a Mexican drug dealer in 2005. They will apparently be the last to benefit from Bush's pardon powers, according to the Press Office.

Lobbyists for prominent political felons are not giving up, however - and this is all the more true for those lobbying for a humanitarian release for the ideologue Jonathan Pollard, who is into his 24th year of a life sentence for passing secret information to Israel in 1985.
